The Animals of Franz Marc
I love the works of Franz Marc. In this illustration I combined a couple of his animals into one big jungle. I already did this kind of painting many years ago and wanted to do it again using my current preferred technique: the reduced shapes and clean strokes of vector graphics. No gradients, just solid color.
I always start with very rough sketches, planning a general layout, placing the large shapes and some of the detail. Also placing the bright colors. Marc has a clash or even complementary color scheme in each of these artworks and when combining them into one I had to deal with that. The illustration went through several editing stages.
